Pennsylvania invites large power and battery projects to seek state backing for faster grid connection

Developers of generation or storage projects of at least 250 megawatts have until November 16 to ask Pennsylvania to sponsor them for the grid operator's 2027 fast-track interconnection window.

Developers of large power plants and battery systems in Pennsylvania have a second opportunity to win the state backing they need to enter a grid connection process built to produce an interconnection agreement within about ten months. In a notice published in the October 10, 2026, Pennsylvania Bulletin, 56 Pa. Bull. (Oct. 10, 2026) (Doc. No. 26-1489), the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (“DEP”) requested information on generation and storage projects that the Commonwealth could sponsor in the 2027 window of the Expedited Interconnection Track (“EIT”) run by PJM Interconnection, L.L.C. (“PJM”), the operator of the regional electric grid that serves Pennsylvania. Responses are due November 16, 2026.
