Connecticut bars state solar approvals in towns above set land-area shares until July 2027

A temporary bar on Siting Council solar approvals in certain towns runs to July 1, 2027, and new emergency-contact and incident-reporting duties for generating facilities start October 1, 2026.

Public Act 26-127 (House Bill 5340, "An Act Concerning Renewable Power Generation"), which the Act itself records as approved on June 4, 2026, contains two sets of provisions that bear directly on generating facilities in Connecticut: a temporary bar on approvals by the Connecticut Siting Council (the "Council") of solar photovoltaic facilities in municipalities that already host a defined share of Council-approved solar, and emergency-contact, training, reporting and jurisdictional provisions that take effect on October 1, 2026. Both will be read against schedules, lease terms and financing conditions written before the Act existed.

Pub. Act 26-127 (HB 5340) §§ 12, 13, 16, 17; Conn. Gen. Stat. §§ 16-50i, 16-50k, 16-50l
