Connecticut reviews Amazon drone delivery hub at North Haven warehouse; comments close October 15
Federal aviation regulators asked the state to confirm that up to 1,000 daily drone deliveries from a warehouse hub fit Connecticut's coastal program; state comments run through October 15, 2026.
Warehouse operators adding drone delivery in Connecticut need more than a local site plan approval: the flights themselves can trigger a state coastal review. On September 16, 2026, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (“DEEP”) published notice that the Federal Aviation Administration (“FAA”) had asked it, under section 307(c)(1) of the Coastal Zone Management Act, 16 U.S.C. § 1456(c)(1), to review whether approving Prime Air's beyond-visual-line-of-sight package deliveries from a drone delivery center at 409 Washington Avenue is consistent with Connecticut's coastal management program, Conn. Gen. Stat. §§ 22a-90 to 22a-112. DEEP later extended the comment period to October 15, 2026.
